Food for thought


As a bride-to-be working at MB (there are currently two of us, but Elaine's big day later this month is fast approaching!), one might assume that organizing a wedding would be a breeze. "You must know exactly what you want," my friends have said. Wrong! I'm constantly inspired by things I see here in the office — a Monique Lhuillier gown one day, a coconut cupcake infused with amaretto another — and my vision is always changing. For each choice there is to make, there's an abundance of wonderful options; I've found that making the big decisions, while fun and exciting, is also overwhelming. Luckily, my fiance and I started planning our event well in advance (we have 14 months to go).

On our plate now: the caterer, which is high on our list of priorities. We want our menu to be delicious, of course, but unexpected and memorable, too. It doesn't stop there though, does it? How will the food be presented? What kind of service will the wait staff provide? Does the estimate fall within our budget? So, how many proposals do you have to weigh and how many bacon-wrapped scallops do you have to try before signing on the dotted line?

Turns out, we're not the only engaged couple grappling with these questions. We met some at a recent tasting and were relieved to hear their thoughts and share our own experiences (There's nothing better than comparing notes with fellow brides and grooms.) My takeaway: Carefully consider the options, make an educated decision and move on! We're almost to this last step.
