Vendor spotlight: Amy Burke Designs

California, Flowers

I'm totally digging the work of South San Francisco-based florist Amy Burke, ofAmy Burke Designs. Her lush arrangements and bouquets have a wild, textural quality that somehow manages to look eclectic and calculated at the same time (Amy actually has a degree in Sculpture from Arizona State University, which shows in the way she assembles and designs flowers). I especially love that she's not afraid to use color—her bouquets pop with vivid shades of orange, yellow, purple and fuschia (but she can also do an all-white bouquet that looks anything but basic). She also incorporates cool elements, like fruit, peacock feathers, and copper wire. Check out photos of some her recent work here.—Lauren Matthews, associate editor, Brides Northern California

Wedding Wisdom: Though your flowers won't need to be ordered until a few months before your wedding date, it's important to book your florist as soon as possible. Many florists are booked a year in advance.
