When my fiance Chris and I got engaged, we looked at all sorts of venues before deciding on The Boston Public Library--some of our favorite places we didn't choose were located on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Rather than let all the time we spent researching and traveling to these spots go unused, I thought I'd highlight one of the places we saw each week on this blog.
I'll start with the White Elephant on Nantucket. Its harborside location is convenient for guests as it's within walking distance of downtown's shops and restaurants, and the ferry. Wedding ceremonies and cocktail hour take place on the resort's expansive lawn. You can also tent the lawn and hold a dinner reception for up to 300 guests. If you're having a more intimate celebration, dinner receptions for up to 60 guests can be held on the Sundeck or, or for a reception of up to 150 guests, on the Terrace. If you can swing it, the "Exclusive Wedding Weekends" offered during the Spring and Fall sounds amazing--you can rent the entire 64 rooms, cottages, and suites for your friends and family for two to three days. The property also has an onsite spa and a library where they serve port and cheese each afternoon. —Leigh Crandall, Managing Editor, Brides.com Magazines
