Napa Valley is obviously the first place that comes to mind if you're thinking of hosting a wedding at a vineyard in Northern California. But with popularity comes pricey-ness. So if you're looking for something a bit different—but just as charming—head south to the Livermore Valley Wine Country.

Spanish missionaries planted the first wine grapes in the Livermore Valley in the 1760s, and now the area is home to over 40 wineries. Over the holidays, I visited the lovely Wente Vineyards for lunch with my family, and discovered that they can host weddings on the Terrace Lawn or in the Spanish-style stucco event center.

After lunch, we headed to the nearby Murietta's Well Winery for wine tasting, another gorgeous spot for a wedding. Receptions can be hosted in the rustic, downstairs Barrel Room.—Lauren Matthews, associate editor, Brides.com Magazines
