A "real" real wedding

Boston, Honeymoons & Destination Weddings, Wedding Style & Decor

Me, in my David's Bridal bridesmaid dress,
with the adorable newlyweds.

As editors, we get to view photos from a ton of weddings, but there's still nothing like seeing a close friend tie the knot. Nearly two months ago, I went to my dear friends Kate and Russ's wedding in Portsmouth, N.H. I had never been to Portsmouth and thought it was such a wonderful place to have a wedding—a perfect "mini-destination" for Boston and New Hampshire brides. South Church, where the ceremony was held, was the perfect New England church, and the Sheraton Portsmouth hosted a beautiful reception. I also thought the rehearsal dinner site, Victory , was really wonderful—the wedding party took over the entire upstairs dining room and the food was delicious. I also loved the little details that were just so "Kate and Russ." Both of them are newspaper reporters, so the save-the-dates were mini "newspapers," and the favors were reporters' notebooks. For more photos of Kate's wedding, check out her amazing photographer, Channing Johnson's, blog.—Kim Forrest, Assistant Editor, Brides.com Magazines

Wedding Wisdom: If it rains on your wedding day, as it did for Kate and Russ, keep a positive attitude—and buy some cute umbrellas! They'll make for some fun outdoor photos, despite the rain!
