Here's one splurge you don't have to feel guilty about: Westport, CT-based Princessbands is offering to donate a portion of the proceeds from any custom tiara or accessory from their "Karma" line to a charity of the bride's choice. The "Karma" tiara (pictured) features jade beads, freshwater pearls, and crystals set on sterling silver or 14K gold, and retails for $260. Brides can call 203-227-4837 to discuss further or place an order.

Designer Catherine Siroka also handcrafts combs, hairpins, and jewelry using pearls, Swarovski crystals, and semiprecious stones. If you're a local bride who needs some help choosing a headpiece or jewelry to work with your hairstyle and dress, Catherine even provides personal consultations at her Fairfield County studio or any nearby location of your choice. She also hosts jewelry-making parties—a fun bridal shower idea.—Lauren Matthews, associate editor, Brides Local Magazines
