Bridal bow wow

Last night I was invited to Animal Fair Magazine's 8th Annual Halloween Pet Costume Party benefiting the Humane Society of New York.

On the red carpet, I had a chance to speak with newlywed Beth Ostrosky Stern. I learned that Howard and Beth's English bulldog Bianca was actually not able to make it to their wedding held at Le Cirque in NYC as dogs are not allowed in the building, but that Bianca was decked out in a little pink dress at the private event they held for their families a month earlier.

I asked Beth if Bianca sensed a change between her and Howard now that they were married and Beth said that similar to how "children feel how their parents are feeling" that she is sure that Bianca feels "the happiness in the household". Her suggestions for how pet owners can incorporate their pets into their own weddings? "Just have fun with it. Pets are like your children. If you want your children at your wedding then bring your pet to your wedding."

Wendy and Lucky Diamond, editors of Animal Fair and judges on CBS' Greatest American Dog, echoed Beth's thoughts of incorporating pets into your wedding. Wendy said that "Whoever I marry is going to have to have a love" for her dog Lucky as well.

And tying in to the wedding theme, Wendy agreed with socialite Jane Pontarelli that every fashion show must end with a bride. So Jane talked to her friends over at Kleinfeld (in Manhattan and they designed a couture gown for her dog Lulu to wear to close the Halloween Pet Costume runway! —John Vaccaro
