One-stop online shopping

Gotta love the internet. Here's yet another helpful tool for today's brides MyRegistry.com, which allows members to include gifts from stores all over the world, enjoy comparison shopping tools and register for non-boxed items such as a massage, a dinner out at your favorite restaurant or maybe even tickets for a Cubs/Sox game or concert. Not to mention, you could use it to solicit donations for a tropical honeymoon (which sounds pretty good right now!). There's even a way to register for cash. Hmmm, maybe I'm a bit old school but that seems kind of weird to me. (Isn't getting a card and writing a check, a tad more thoughtful? Although I should ask myself how many times have I bought a gift online with a preprinted gift card as opposed to a sending a personal greeting card with hand-written note?) Anyway, it's worth checking out. The site, on which membership is free, also includes a wedding services page with links to stationery stores, travel agencies and home furnishing shops. I'm starting to think you could plan/orchestrate virtually your whole wedding without leaving your computer. —from our Local Scout Chicago blogger Beth Wilson
