    I'll never forget (and not in a good way) the peppermint martini signature cocktail my friends served last year at their holiday-season wedding. While they had the best of festive intentions, the sweet mint taste was the worst choice to go with the bite-size latkes and pickled shrimp. If you're looking for a season-friendly cocktail, I suggest pear: It goes great with the spices and foods used to celebrate this time of year. Grey Goose La Poire flavored vodka, with its taste of Anjou pear, mixes well with cranberry juice, apple cider, and ginger liqueur or simply syrup; add sparkling wine and the season really gets bright.
