The Guys' Guide
A unique proposal story
DealNews.com is a web site that scours the internet daily for the hottest sales and coupons from over 2,000 retailers. The site usually publishes sales for computers and clothes, so I stopped in my tracks on Saturday morning when I came across this deal for a free engagement ring!
Don't get too excited yet. The post was part of daily reader Brian Chernick's proposal to girlfriend Stefanie Setlock. Both check the site daily (Brian actually was the one who introduced it to Stefanie), so when it came time for him to pop the question he approached the site to see if they would post his "offer." "It would be the most unexpected way for me to approach it and she would be wowed for sure," he said. So the post read:
Brian Chernick: Free ring with engagement to me
For Stefanie Setlock of Atlanta, GA, only, Brian Chernick offers a free Marriage Proposal via coupon code "I DO". Plus, you'll receive a free engagement ring with your purchase. With free on-one-knee delivery, that's the best deal on marriage you've seen from Brian in eight years. It's also the lowest total price we've seen for any marriage proposal, excluding refurbs.
Features include having and holding, for better or worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, and till death do you part. No warranty information is supplied.
The next day the post updated—she said yes!

Stefanie is so lucky to have such a wonderful, unique groom in Brian. I envy him as I couldn't think of anything as fresh as he did. I wish there was a second time to us, the Brahmans!!
Uh, oh, it just slipped out of my mind. Here it is now. I can give this idea to my daughter so that she can think of devising ways to get surprises from her groom and put Brian to shame.
