Book Review: Cakewrecks

Courtesy of Cakewrecks
If the abundance of baking shows on television has taught us anything, it's that anything can make a multitiered showstopper of a cake go terribly wrong: hot weather, traffic accidents, angry clients, surly employees, hungry dogs. When this happens on Ace of Cakes or Cake Boss, you can be sure that by the end, the bride and groom will have a brand-new beautiful cake. But real life is not a made-for-TV movie, and happy endings (or refunds) are never guaranteed. Cakewrecks is a hilarious blog (recently made into a book, Cakewrecks, sold on Amazon.com) dedicated to when good cakes (with good intentions) go wrong. Whether it be flagrant spelling errors in the buttercream lettering, wonky layers, or over-the-top decorations, seeing this series of don'ts will hopefully give you some insight before you say "I do." —Jackie, BRIDES Magazine
