Creative calligraphy
Until recently, I didn't realize how many different styles of hand calligraphy exist. Each calligrapher's hand can create something totally different. So I was delighted to hear about Northern Virginia-based Pretty Mail Calligraphy, who has a really unique style that's whimsical but still classic. She addresses envelopes, of course, but also letters on invitations, escort cards, place cards, and the like. Check out her work at her new, gorgeous website. —Kim Forrest, Editor, Brides Washington

I've heard that you run the risk of having invites returned to you because the PO cannot read the intricate calligraphy. Is that true?
