Money on my mind

For the second year, we've published a Marriage & Money section in our October/November issue (on stands now). We know that money is something you're pretty much always thinking about—both your wedding and honeymoon budget and the financial life you have beyond the big day. So you'll want to read our 8-page special that covers everything you need to know: the real deal on buying a house; what the stimulus plan means for you; how to score a deal on virtually any purchase; how real couples have dealt with being engaged and unemployed; insider secrets to buying a car, and many more tips and tricks.
One of my favorite sections is called "Cracking the Customer-Service Code." Tell me you don't want to know this! We uncovered the best way to get results from any business you can think of (cell phone, credit card, health insurance, etc). One simple tip: When you get a rep on the phone, keep your request short and to the point. Spit out what you want in two sentences, max.
The section is filled with this kind of easy-to-implement advice, so check it out now. Your bank account (and fiance) will thank you. —Kara Corridan, executive editor, Modern Bride
