Gifts that Give Back: Charity Water
Couples marrying next month still in need of favor ideas should check out this video from Charity Water about their September drive. The organization started three years ago when founder Scott Harrison asked friends to bring $20 in lieu of gifts to his 31st birthday party. He used that money to build wells and bring clean drinking water to villages in Uganda. Since then, the organization has helped nearly one million people around the world gain access to clean water. During their September drive, Charity Water is asking those with major events happening during the month (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, marathons, etc.) to "donate" their event and ask their guests to give towards the cause. Couples could also choose to make a donation instead of offering favors. I think it would be cool to leave a bottles of water on each reception table with notes attached explaining that a donation has been made in guests' names. It's a gift you and your guests can feel great about, and it's certainly one that keeps on giving. —Leigh Crandall, managing editor, Brides Local Magazines
