This is one wedding task that keeps just about everyone up at night. Is there anyone who "deserves" to sit next to your Cousin Al? What about that office friend who won't know a soul? Some brides avoid the issue entirely and have open seating, but we encourage you to have a plan—it makes everyone feel as though you'd thought carefully about them, and it ensures that people don't start rearranging the reception tables to make room for "just one more."
