Modern Bride
An inspiring DIY affair

When I came across Sherry and John Petersik's home renovation blog, Young House Love, I was immediately hooked. The twentysomething pair, who purchased a Richmond, VA home in need of updates, write daily about the improvements they've made (they're truly impressive) as well as other DIY projects they're working on...
One of the largest to date: their wedding. Check out these photos. Sherry and John invited 75 guests to their backyard for a celebration that came to less than $4,000! What really impresses me: Their wedding was chock-full of personal, creative ideas (gladiolus bulb favors were given to guests in brown paper bags, which were adorned with cute photo strips of the couple holding signs that read: "Plant one..." "...on us!" "smooooch"). Even little luxuries, like flip flops for guests, weren't forgotten. This party proves that a fabulous wedding doesn't have cost a fortune. So take a look. You'll be inspired. —Michaela Garibaldi, assistant managing editor, Modern Bride
