Cheaping out on the chairs

Recently, several staff members have complained that they've gone to wedding receptions that didn't have enough tables and chairs. "At first, you figure someone just miscalculated," said one editor. "But then you realize that half the guests have no place to sit. And when you see the bride's grandmother standing next to the dance floor, trying to balance a plate of pasta and her scotch-and-water, you know that for some people, the evening is going to end very, very early." Unless you're having a casual, cocktail- style reception (and even then, you need chairs for the oldsters), here's the rule: Everyone gets a seat.
