    How did he ask?

One of my favorite proposal stories includes a groom who wrote "Will You Marry Me?" in the sand, and then hired a helicopter to fly his girlfriend over the beach. Love it! Then I heard that some hotels are now offering this as part of a "proposal package"—hotel staffers write the message, and the couple whirs by overhead. The surprise is still there, but somehow I feel the specialness is compromised—just how many "Marry Me" messages are you going to be flying over? What about your proposal? Did your guy do something outrageous? Romantic? Unique? Tell all! —Jackie, BRIDES magazine

    1. For an amazing Valentine's Day get a way my (now fiance) took me to Chateau Lake Louise, a HUGE 300 year old Castle (owned by Fairmont) in the middle of the snowy Canadian Rockies. We spent the whole weekend exploring the incredible property, having high tea, gourmet dinners and a spa day on Valentine's afternoon...
Later that evening as we were getting ready for dinner Vince requested that I "dress warm." My response was something sarcastic noting that dinner was at the hotel, his response; "because there is a white horse down stairs with a sleigh attached to it waiting to take us for a ride..." Who can say no to that???
So on the sleigh, my thoughts had nothing to do with a proposal, I had just assumed he had planned a special and romantic evening since it was Valentine's Day. The ride was two miles long to the end of frozen Lake Louise and back to the hotel. Instead of returning to the old castle, the sleigh ride brought us to a new castle, a life sized ice castle that Vince had built for me... (notice a theme? white horse and castle??? he created a true fairy tale as I had always wanted!)
As we entered the castle on a trail of rose petals we were met by the sound of our song, "Moonlight Serenade" (Glenn Miller band) from a harp player that Vince had hired for the romantic dance that followed under the stars in my big icy castle.

At this point I was shocked, still not thinking about an engagement and just in awe over my unbelievable Valentine's Day gift! After the song ended, he told me he needed to show me something. As he knelt down on one knee he removed my left glove (now I know whats about to happen and the water works started, i bust into tears as he got to his knee,) he pulled out the most perfect ring and said "I never thought I would find you, and I never want to loose you. Will you marry me?"

    2. This may seem simple to some people but I think that's what made it so beautiful and romantic because it came from the heart without a lot of theatrics. I came home from work on an average Saturday and found a pink heart-shaped post it on the front door that said Why I Love You... When I opened the door the house was dark but had candles lit everywhere and music playing. There was a trail of heart post its along the ground and each one listed a different reason why he loved me. The trail led to the bedroom door and when I pushed it open he was there on one knee with ring in hand. After bursting into tears I managed to say yes. I also found out he had called my dad earlier that week to get his blessing. we then went out to a fabulous dinner to celebrate.
