Music from celebrity weddings
Celebrities inspire our wedding dresses, jewelry, hairstyles and more, so why not our wedding music? Here are some songs that were played at recent celebrity weddings. You might be surprised to hear who picked what.
"Today" by Joshua Radin: The little-known artist from Ohio made it big in 2008 when Ellen Degeneres asked him to perform this song at her wedding to Portia de Rossi. Lyrics from the song say, "This is the day I make you mine."
"Cross My Heart" by George Strait: While on her honeymoon with hubby Hank Baskett, Kendra Wilkinson posted the songs that she was listening to on her blog. Mostly comprised of love songs, the list concluded with this country tune that she revealed was her wedding song.
"Stand by Me" by Ben E. King: At her star-studded April 2009 affair in Venice, Salma Hayek joined Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, Bono and Damien Rice in a rendition of this classic.
"All Summer Long" by Kid Rock: Although she married in the winter of 2009, Fergie joined pals Kid Rock and Guns N' Roses guitarist, Slash, on stage for a rendition of this upbeat hit at her wedding to Josh Duhamel.
"You Send Me" by Sam Cooke: The often unconventional shock jock Howard Stern opted for a classic song at his wedding to Beth Ostrosky in late 2008.
"The Stranger" by Billy Joel: Later in the evening guest Billy Joel performed this hit at the party.
"Your Song" by Elton John: We aren't sure if this exact song was played at the wedding of tennis star Andy Roddick and his model wife Brooklyn Decker, but we do know that the music legend himself played a set of 8 songs at the affair.
"Lovin' In My Baby's Eyes" by Tah Majal: Former first daughter Jenna Bush danced to this song with her now husband Henry Hager when they married in May 2008 at the Prairie Chapel Ranch near Crawford, Texas.
"Wedding March" by Mendelssohn: British pop artist Natasha Bedingfield paraded up the aisle to this classic composure at her March 2009 wedding to California businessman Matt Robinson.
"Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: Just two weeks ago Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum danced their first dance as husband and wife to this Hawaiian-style tune. —Cari Wolfert

Thanks, Cari - for your most informative article on these popular vocal selections! I took some time to listen to the audio samples you provided - and when I came to the last one ("Somewhere over the Rainbow"), I gasped in delight! I have NEVER heard this arrangement before - and it is simply touching! THANKS so much for including this list. What a wonderful resource!
