A Wedding to be Grateful for

Customarily, a few weeks after a wedding, guests receive a thank-you note for their gift to the newlyweds. But after the wedding I attended this past Sunday, I felt that I should send them a thank-you note. Not only Jenn and Joey, but also their parents, the Carbajals and the Eneas.
From the picture-perfect traditional church wedding (where Joey's sister Jaclyn sang a most beautiful "Ave Maria") to the elegant (and food-abundant) cocktail hour to a gourmet dinner (during which we were entertained by a dead-ringer for Frank Sinatra) and dancing (where Joey's mom, Gloria, made sure to get me out on the floor!), all the way through to the afterparty, they were all the most gracious hosts you could imagine. As far as I could see, Jenn and Joey somehow managed to spend quality time with each of their guests at the reception and seemed delighted that they were there to share their big day.
It was the ideal celebration of their marriage, of family, of friends. So thank you Jenn and Joey, Mr. and Mrs. Carbajal, Gloria, Gerry. It was a beautiful and awesome party! And to all you engaged couples reading, I hope your wedding days are as happy—and really, just downright fun—as this one was. We'd love to hear about any special touches, from sentimental to outrageous, you have planned. Look for my blog next week—I've got a cool green cake to tell you about. —Joseph Mills, contributing copy editor, Modern Bride
