BRIDES Magazine
DIY Fever!

Courtesy of Adrienne Page
PhotographyThe six real weddings in our July/August issue are full of DIY details. A few we love:
1. Decorate with vintage photos sandwiched between pieces of plexi and hung from ribbons.
2. Table runners sewn from fabric you buy yourself are the ultimate custom touch—and totally affordable.
3. Embellish plain invites and save-the-dates with grosgrain ribbons; you don't even need a glue gun.
Tell us what you're doing yourself!

I am planning on creating my own back drop for my reception I think I have some great ideas on how to do it!!
I'm doing all stationary things myself: invitations, menues, programs, and place cards. Invitations are pretty easys; the programs may seem daunting, but if you know how to use Power Point, you can create really whatever you want! I went on to AmericanBlinds.com and found a swatch of wallpaper that demonstrates my theme. Just save the image to your desktop, insert it into the PP slide and layer text boxes on top of the image. You can even add effects to the picture (white or gray scale, fade out, ect.) Super cheap and easy way to save a ton of money!
Another project I'm doing is making cd's of the music from the ceremony for favors instead of candy. Since my fiance and I are both classical musicians, the music is going to be a big part of our ceremony, and I'm using pre-existing recordings to make the cd's. It's a little more lasting than jelly beans.
I have written a DIY Wedding Flower Guide (workbook and 5 DVD's) showing you how to do ALL your own wedding flowers and save a ton of money. Visit my site for my information.
