Bachelorette Parties, British Style
I was in London over the 4th of July weekend and almost everywhere we went, we saw groups of women in restaurants, clubs or going from pub to pub wearing ridiculous outfits. One of my favorite looks was a gaggle of ladies wearing headbands with pink fuzzy devil horns and neon pink tutus with T-shirts that read "Go wild, girls!" We got a kick out of seeing so many rowdy ladies in various states of inebriation. I asked what was going on and I was told they were having hen parties. Turns out a hen party is England's (and Ireland's, and Australia's) version of a bachelorette party. The hens weren't shy—they liked to be seen and heard, giddy with the anticipation of a wedding celebration ahead.
