    Flower girl secrets

Having difficulty waiting to wear the dress until the wedding? That feeling may not apply only to the bride. How about those exuberant flower girls?

"The Lime Green Secret," a new book written and illustrated by Georgia Graham, tells the story of just one such girl who can't wait to get into her beautiful satin dress. With her trusty dog Ginger in tow, Georgia manages to take her dress for a few spins before her sister's wedding. But what will she do after she discovers a lime green stain on the beautiful gown? The flower girl in your life will enjoy the results.

Ms. Graham tells Brides.com that the book is based on a real wedding where she was a flower girl in 1967. "I was like a lot of little girls, I just couldn't keep my hands off the wedding finery," she says. "The bride, Fran and the ring bearer, Billy were my neighbors in real life. My cartoon illustrations of Fran and her bridesmaids are very close to the real people with their beehive hairdos and cats eye glasses. We all got to wear long gloves that came up past our elbows!"

The book captures the spirit of dressing up for a special occasion, and it's fun to see the wedding through the eyes of the flower girl. She's looking forward to wearing the pretty dress, but the book will make her feel special, too. —Michelle Preli
