A Wedding Weekend

A few weeks ago, I attended the beautiful nuptials of my cousin and his fiancee, who tied the knot at a farm in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. It was truly a wedding weekend, as we all gathered in this remote mountain spot and kicked the party off with a Welcome Dinner under a tent.
The couple, who met first as young campers at summer camp and fell in love as camp counselors, were treated to a Roast & Toast by dear friends and family, who reminisced about summers spent in the mountains of the Adirondacks. The following day, the sun was high and the sky was a shade of cerulean blue as guests got a chance to explore the antique shops in town or hike through the paths behind the farm.
At 4pm, we all gathered under a large cherry tree for the ceremony, where friends contributed by playing the violin and performing readings. Cocktail hour was held on the lawn, before we moved into the barn for the reception. The 9-piece band played long into the night and had guests dancing under the hanging lanterns to everything from Top 40 hits to classic Sinatra. The next day we all reassembled for brunch, where the centerpieces from the night before were reused (how green!) and discussed how much fun we'd had. After they refueled, people slowly departed in their cars back to their homes, but we will all treasure the memories for years to come. —Abbe Wright, assistant to the editor-in-chief, Modern Bride
