    The perfect bachelorette

    When my cousin's fiancee said she did not want a typical bachelorette party, she meant it. She told us that she didn't want any public humiliation, and she had no desire to wear a veil or a sash denoting her last night of single sisterhood. And she definitely wanted no part of any lewd games, nor did she want to imbibe any suggestive alcoholic beverages. All she wanted was a dinner out with her sisters and her closest girlfriends, followed by socializing and dancing at a trendy bar. So we gave her just that, with a small nod to the fact that she was the Bride-to-Be.

    Thirteen of us gathered for cocktails at a friend's apartment, where we surprised her with a rousing rendition of The Newlywed Game. (Her fiance, though not present, had secretly answered our questions in the week prior!) After reminiscing about the location of their first kiss, we walked a few blocks to Otto, Mario Batali's gourmet pizza restaurant, for a delicious three-course prix fixe dinner. We sat at a long table and our cacophony of female voices could be heard all over the dining room, which, surprisingly did not deter our very cute waiter from giving me his phone number before we left for the evening.

    As we milled about outside the restaurant, deciding where to head for the dancing portion of the evening, an empty white limousine cruised by us and honked. It was total kismet, as there were 13 of us—too many to squeeze into three taxi cabs—and he was looking for a quick fare. We joked that even if we had booked ahead and planned for weeks, the limo still wouldn't have been outside at the exact moment that we exited the restaurant! Only charging us a mere $4 per person, the limo driver dropped us at Vig on the corner of Spring and Elizabeth Streets, where the DJ was playing great 80's and 90's tunes which got us all on the dance floor. We all had a great time and the bachelorette party was exactly what she wanted - a fun night with her girlfriends.

    A few days after, I received a call from the aforementioned cute waiter who invited me to go out for a drink with him. Our date was last night and we had a great time - which leads me to beg the question: is it possible to find love at a bachelorette party?     1. I love the idea of breaking away from the typical bachelorette party. Sounds like you had a brilliant time, what a stroke of luck with the Limo. I saw this on thrillist.com for a limo in San Fran - http://www.thrillist.com/oakland/limousine for those that don't want to pay exorbitant rates for short rides.
