    Wardrobe woes

Being a bridesmaid in a wedding versus attending a wedding as a guest can be two completely different experiences. The question of what to wear crosses my mind almost instantly after locating the time of day and locale on the invitation. When you are a bridesmaid, that concern is taken care of (for better or for worse)! But partially gone are the days of the typical "Black Tie" and "Cocktail Attire" dress codes. Couples are thinking outside of the box for clever theme wardrobe choices. I have been faced with everything from "Denim & Diamonds" to "Boating Chic" to "Tails and Tiaras Optional." Hence the recurring question in my mind: What to wear?

I am all for being creative. No longer do I worry who will see me in the same standard black cocktail dress I own. It has officially moved to the back of my closet (next to my retired Wonder Woman Halloween costume).

This upcoming weekend, my husband and I are attending his work colleague's wedding. I do not know a soul going. The dress code is "Formal Attire Invited" and one of my former bridesmaids' dresses is itching to come out and make a guest appearance. It's a sky blue satin strapless with a ribbon detail at the waist by Nicole Miller. It was the prettiest one I've ever worn, but I don't know if I have the courage to show up in a mass-produced bridesmaids' dress. I'm curious: Would you do it? —Linda Seidman, Senior Editor, Modern Bride

    1. Is the dress is formal and pretty, why not? Brides always say their Bridesmaid "The dress is so pretty you can always wear it again" Well this is the time to wear it again. Take out that closet and glamour it up with some cute stilettos and new jewelry and you would look fabulous.
