Are you the Modern Bride of the Year?

The annual Modern Bride of the Year contest, where the winner appears on the cover of MB, has been underway for almost two weeks. I look forward to this contest all year because I freelance on this project and my job is to read all, yes all, of the applications before they go to the editors.
After three years and many thousands of entries, I can honestly say that a bride today is not just planning her wedding, but also making the world a better place to live. Through our questionnaire, I have "met" some of the most amazing women making monumental contributions to our society. I have laughed out loud at some of their witty answers; been personally inspired by the ways these brides are making a difference in their field, family or community; and have become attached to women I don't know. Plus I have seen some amazing photos of couples so obviously in love. This contest is definitely not a beauty pageant, but more a way for a bride to showcase why she truly is modern.
So if you have not entered the contest yet, I would love to hear from you. I can even give you a few pointers:
1. Do not send three pictures of you and your friends. I have never met you so I can only guess which one you are.
2. Do not send three pictures of you kissing your fiance—it really helps when I can see the front of your face.
3. Try and refrain from sending your favorite Halloween picture. Since I do not know what you normally look like, it his hard for me to tell that what you are wearing is a costume!
We can't wait to hear from you. —Sharon Fredman, freelancer, Modern Bride of the Year
