The dish on Salma and Heidi's weddings

Entertainment Tonight was just here to get MB's take on the dresses worn by Salma Hayek and Heidi Montag at their respective wedding celebrations this weekend. (Interestingly, both couples are already married, and they both chose Saturday to commemorate their unions with lots of family and friends. I so wish I was at Salma's: Bono sang.)
Salma's gown, designed by Nicholas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga, one of the luxury brands owned by her husband, was actually pretty surprising in its classic style. Ghesquiere is among the edgiest designers out there—our fashion editor Juli told me about a runway show where he had the models in metal leggings—but for Salma, he designed a traditional white ballgown. It was sleeveless, with a deep-V neckline and a jewel-encrusted bodice. (This allowed Salma to show off her cleavage, which is pretty renowned!)
Heidi's gown was custom-made by Monique Lhuillier and reportedly cost $19,000 (recession? What recession?). It was a strapless silk organza dropped waist ballgown with a silk chiffon sash covered in Swarovski crystals and pearls. My favorite part was the overlay of silk organza peacock feathers—anything peacock is hot right now. I'm guessing we'll be seeing lots of brides wearing a similar look over the coming months.
Check out our spot on ET—it's supposed to air tonight. —Kara Corridan, executive editor, Modern Bride magazine
