Runway Review
A look at Alfred Angelo
New York—First up in our NY Bridal Market coverage, we stopped by the Alfred Angelo showroom near Times Square for a preview of the Alfred Angelo, Sapphire and Piccione collections. Designer Michael Shettel proclaimed about this season's dresses: "Organza is important!" which I think is a wonderful attitude.
We had a lot of discussion about sleeves. You know, strapless still rules the gown world, but we think Michelle Obama did her part for one-shoulder dressing. Shettel is not in the sleeve camp right now. He said his customer is "not ready for a sleeve yet," but he did show a few looks with boleros and a glamorous and flowing one-shoulder gown from his Piccione Collection.
I also saw some great short dresses from their Reception Collection. You can see from my showroom photos here, these dresses are a lot of fun.
And in color news, Alfred Angelo is introducing four new colors to their line this season: Petunia, Violet, Marine Blue, and Shamrock. —Michelle Preli
