Bliss out

Courtesy of Sugar Bliss Cake Boutique
The cupcake craze is still going strong in Chicago, and I'm particularly fond of the ones from Sugar Bliss Cake Boutique, located on North Wabash Avenue in the Loop. Owner Teresa Ging attended Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and then spent a year perfecting her recipes before opening her sweets shop. Her cupcakes are baked using high-quality ingredients like European cocoa, pure Madagascar bourbon vanilla, and fresh fruit. Cake flavors include chocolate cappuccino, lemon coconut, and Texas red velvet, plus breakfast varieties (blueberry vanilla, berry berry, cranberry orange) sold only in the morning. Each treat is topped with her signature bloom of creamy frosting in flavors like milk-chocolate buttercream, strawberry cream-cheese and chocolate toffee. In fact, her frostings are so popular that they're also in shot form for a dollar each. —Heather Lee, Editor, Brides Chicago
