Pink champagne & a slice

Courtesy of Laurent-Perrier
I recently attended an intimate dinner at the Plaza hosted by the Champagne house Laurent-Perrier, who were promoting their Cuvée Rosé Brut. Several editor colleagues and I were treated to an epic gourmet feast, each course carefully prepared to complement this luscious salmon-pink bubbly's notes of raspberry, strawberry, and black cherries. It was all perfectly lovely, but the best news of all? According to one of our Laurent-Perrier dining companions, rosé Champagne is apparently an ideal match for...pizza!
This got me thinking about bachelorette parties--I'd personally prefer to attend a lowkey-but-irreverent soiree at someone's apartment because the big-night-out thing has become too expensive and frankly, kind of passé. Ditto the pricey "girls' getaway" format (apologies to managing editor Leigh Crandall and my other friends getting married this year!). We present some great ideas for at-home bachelorette parties on page 230 in the current issue of Brides New York, so make sure the ladies in charge of planning your fête take a look. And if I were the one hosting? There would be pizza (mmm....maybe from Grimaldi's?) and at least one bottle of really good, really fancy rosé Champagne to kick off the festivities with a touch of glamour. I might even suggest that the bride contribute by showing up with a bottle or two of the good stuff herself. Oh, wait I just did. Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut is $100, and sold at Sherry-Lehmann. —Amy Elliott, Executive Editor, Brides New York
