    Wedding dress designer Jenny Lee has made a name for herself by creating exquisitely made pieces in fashion-forward styles. Just weeks before her new bridal collection will debut in New York we caught up with the designer who dished on her dresses, her favorite designers and her new eveningwear line that will debut this spring. —Cari Wolfert

    You have a unique process when making gowns where brides do not order by size, but instead each gown is created around their specific measurements. What process does a bride go through when purchasing one of your gowns?

    When a bride purchases one of my gowns, we require more detailed measurements compared to other designers. Aside from just measuring the bust, waist, and hip, we also get more specific measurements in order to ensure a precise fit.

    Are you planning on expanding your line beyond wedding dresses? This coming spring, I will be introducing my evening collection to my new flagship salon in Newport Coast, California which I am really excited for. The line will employ the Jenny Lee signature look but in a more affordable price range, staring at $1,500. The gowns can be worn not only for an evening event, but also as bridesmaid and mother of the bride as well.

    What style advice would you give brides who are wearing your mix and match pieces to their wedding?

    My mix and match pieces give brides an opportunity to easily create different looks on their wedding day. You can make your wedding attire more playful but still elegant by wearing a bolero for the ceremony and taking it off for the reception--or by having a long detachable train for the ceremony to create a more dramatic look. Another option is to wear a beaded sash to dress up the gown or adding extra detail to give it a more modern feel.

    What style details make your gowns red carpet ready?

    The fabrics that I use to make my dresses, which all come from Europe, gives a luxurious look to the gowns. My hand draping and amazing fit really enhances the femininity of each woman's body to compliments her best features.

    What advice would you give to a bride who wants to find the best dress silhouette to fit her body?

    Know what you want to accentuate! Find the best feature of your body and get a dress that flaunts it. Choose a silhouette that compliments the shape of your body, instead of covering it up.

    BONUS: What designers are you inspired by?

    I look up Valentino's couture work and his draping skills. I admire how Giorgio Armani sculpts his dresses and I love how Christian Dior really emphasized each woman's femininity by enhancing her waist and hips.
