    Are all-inclusive resorts everything they're cracked up to be? Tammy Levent, owner of Elite Travel, gives you an insider's perspective on why all-inclusive resorts are worth looking into for your honeymoon.

    First, let's answer the most important question: Can you save money by going to an all-inclusive? Most of the time, yes, but there are also some very luxurious all-inclusive resorts that are more expensive. All-inclusive resorts are generally easier on your budget because you know exactly how much you will spend from the onset on food, drinks and entertainment.     the last thing you want to worry about on your honeymoon is money.

    For most Caribbean islands, you can expect to pay around $3,500 for a week at a 4-star property. Some islands are more expensive than others. For example, St. Lucia or Barbados might cost around $5,000 for a week. Still, when you consider that the price covers all your meals, alcoholic beverages, golfing trips, scuba lessons, spa treatments etc., 3-5k is a deal.

    Amenities vary by resort. For instance, The Body Holiday at Le Sport in St. Lucia specializes in both fitness and relaxation, including hour long spa treatments every day. Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica, one of my favorite resorts, offers horseback riding, excursions to Dunn's River Falls and tarot readings in addition to scuba diving, wind-sailing, snorkeling, golf, yoga and tennis.

    When choosing your resort, take a good look at what activities and dining options are included as well as the smaller amenities like stocked mini-bars. Make sure you have a few restaurants to choose from and are not limited to buffet-style dining. As long as you read and compare what's included, nothing in the fine print should surprise you.

    You may also want to look into high-end boutique resorts like Ladera in St. Lucia, which offer a more personalized service. Ladera and Amelia Island Plantation in Florida are among a number of resorts that do not advertise their all-inclusive packages, so if you have your eye on a particular place, call and ask if they have all-inclusive plans as options or supplements. —Tammy Levent
