Neil Lane on Jenny Mollen's wedding jewelry
Courtesy of Neil Lane
Think of a celebrity bride whose style you love, and chances are Neil Lane created her jewelry. And no wonder: the jeweler-to-the-stars has designed wedding babbles for everyone from Marcia Cross to Gwen Stefani. Most recently, actress Jenny Mollen wore gems by Neil Lane when she said her I dos a second time this July to American Pie actor Jason Biggs (the pair eloped in April). Jenny clearly didn't shy away from the spotlight this time—she positively sparkled in these diamond and platinum earrings and bracelet. Here, Neil Lane gives us his take on designing nuptial jewels for Hollywood's finest.
What makes these bracelets and rings such a great pick for Jenny?
They had an art deco, vintage vibe. Her dress had some beading on it, so she wanted her jewelry to sparkle without being overwhelming. The square shape of the stones was a great touch—it really went well with the shape of her face. And it's always a great thing to have a sparkle on the wrist. The bracelet just added a little glamour to the whole look.
What was it like to design a ring for Ellen DeGeneres to give to Portia de Rossi?
I used a special marquis cut diamond and studded it with tiny pink diamonds. It was feminine and pretty. Pink is close to white. Of all the colored diamonds I think that pink is most appropriate for weddings. Pink diamonds have a softness and sweetness about them that I really like.
What trends are you seeing in wedding jewelry?
Wedding jewelry has become highly important because weddings and dresses have become so elaborate. It just doesn't work to wear a little dinky pair of earrings with an elaborate dress. Even though you glow, you need to have some sparkle in your ear. And a lot of dresses are low cut, so having diamond bracelets adds elegance and glamour to the whole occasion.
What are your tips for a bride on a budget who is looking for great wedding day jewelry?
There are many options out there. You don't need to have the jewels that a movie star has. I think with careful investigation and discretion, you can find jewels which aren't necessarily diamonds but which have a beautiful look.

Well, Can I know the price list? Because, most of the jewelry has became more expensive. Any way this is a great opportunity to find popular jewelry in Hollywood areas in this week.
