"This look is for the girl who doesn't want to look 'made up' for her wedding," says designer Amsale. "Focusing on one feature keeps the rest of the face clean and fresh."
"We wanted to add a festive, fairytale essence to the makeup," says Reverie by Melissa Sweet designer Lia McNairy of the glistening flecks seen on her brides.
"I wanted the hair and makeup to reflect the same iconic styles that inspired my collection," says designer Romona Keveza. "This season was all about the early 1960s. I wanted a look that channeled Audrey Hepburn, but felt soft and modern at the same time. We created a softly smoked brown eye and rosy lips to keep with our theme of classic yet fresh."
"We wanted to add seductive, strong eyes," says Melissa Sweet designer Lia McNairy of the smoldering look on her brides, who walked down the catwalk to the classic hit "Betty Davis Eyes."
Inspired by the the Art Deco paintings of artist Tamara de Lempicka, this look is clean and elegant, with a pristine, dewy face that leaves coral colored lips as its focal point.
"I just love the classic red lip and thought it played well with the modern feel of the hair," says Priscilla of Boston designer Tracy Uomoleale. "It is the classic-yet-modern overall sensibilty of Priscilla of Boston."
"Dramatic, fearless, and flawless were the inspirations for the Platinum collection," says makeup artist Roberto Casey. "It was all about couture, high fashion, statement eyes with a soft lip that brought frenshness and life to the face."
"This look was inspired by my favorite Johannes Vermeer painting Girl with a Red Hat," says Vineyard Collection designer Mark Brower. "It's a shiny plum lip and a soft dusting of color on the eyes."
For this look makeup artist Meagan Hester started with a fresh, clean face, then added concealer around the eyes for a brightened, youthful look, and used a foundation that evens skin tone. To achieve the soft eyes, she used a mixture of light and dark taupe on the lids. Rosy cheeks and a pale pink lip make the look perfect for a spring wedding. "This is a matte look," she says, "so no shiny colors or glosses needed."
