Makeup maestro Elie Maalouf and hair hero Helik Torres share their tricks of the trade
Shampoo the night before your special day. "I like working with clean hair," says Helik Torres. "Not oily, but especially not fly away!"
Keep your hair chic, simple, and gorgeous - not too busy or over worked. "The last thing we want to see is hair that looks confused!"
Plan well ahead. "First find your stylist and work on two or three looks," Torres says. "And don't forget to bring your veil (if you have one), a picture of your dress, and accessories -- or you'll regret it!"
Buy a fresh mascara for the day of the event; apply two coats: mascara defines the eyes and will stand out in pictures.
Blush is essential; it will define the cheekbones while providing a healthy tint of color that will show in YOUR PHOTOS. Maalouf swears by a cream blush: It looks natural in the daylight and has a smooth, glimmery effect. Apply with fingertips to the apples of your cheeks. Caution: It is important to choose a color suitable to skin tone. If tanning, consider your SKIN tone. If your skin is redder than normal, chances are you don't want to look even redder. Instead, go for warmer peach tones or try a bronzer.
When choosing a lip color, don’t try anything "too new," says Maalouf. "You want to look polished, but yourself. Pick something sheer, youthful, and soft; it always looks good with white". If you have LARGE lips, lip liner isn’t necessary. For those with smaller lips, choose a natural-TONED lip liner that matches the color of your lips.
